Our Basic Beliefs

About the Bible

Above any statement of beliefs, we value Holy Scripture most highly.

The Bible is God’s Holy word and message to mankind; it is perfect and has no error in it.

Scripture reference: 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Isaiah 40:8, Psalm 19:7-10

About Salvation

Salvation is found only in the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross and is given to us only by our faith,

not of any sort of work on our part. Salvation leads to works that we are created for. We believe that once a person

has been genuinely saved, that person cannot lose his or her salvation. We also believe that a person is able

to stand before a Holy God through Jesus Christ without the aid of a priest, or mediator.

We call this the ‘priesthood of the believer.’

Scripture reference: Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 3:28, 1 Timothy 2:5, John 10:27-30

About God

There is one and only one living and true God who exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Scripture reference: Genesis 1:1, John 14:9-10, John 14:16, Mathew 28:19

About Jesus

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who is 100 percent God, and 100 percent man. He was born of a virgin, lived among us, died to pay for our sins, and was risen on the third day. Through Jesus Christ, the world was created and is held together. It is only through a relationship with Him that we are able to have a relationship with God. Jesus Christ will return one day in bodily form.

Scripture reference: John 1:1, John 14:6, Hebrews 1:3, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, 1 Corinthians 15

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the seal of the promise that God will one day redeem us. The Holy Spirit indwells the life of the believer at the time of salvation and guides the believer through the genuine Christian life until he or she is brought home forever.

Scripture reference: Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30, Galatians 5:18

About Man

We believe that men and women are created in the image of God. Sin has marred that image,

but redemption is available through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Scripture reference: Genesis 1:27, Genesis 3, Romans 3:23-24, Romans 10:9-10

About the Family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Parents are to teach their children spiritual values, and children are to honor their parents.

Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime.

Scripture reference: Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Exodus 20:12, Genesis 2:24-25

About Baptism and The Lord's Supper

We recognize believers baptism by immersion and the Lords Supper as a symbol of the work of Christ on the cross,

as the two ordinances of the church. We believe the Lord's supper is open to all believers.

Scripture reference: Romans 6:1-4, Luke 22:19-20

About Religious Freedom

As Baptists, we believe in religious freedom. The state owes to every church the protection and full freedom in its pursuit of its spiritual ends. In providing for such freedom, no church or denomination should be favored by the state more than others.

This statement of faith is influenced by the Baptist Faith and Message, 1925, 1963, and 2000.

We hold to the Bible as our confession of faith and these beliefs help to clarify what scripture teaches in key areas.
